As the fall chill settles in, golf season in Colorado is starting to wind down—at least outdoors.
If your clubs are about to take a break, or if you’re planning to keep swinging at a simulator or winter league, it’s the perfect time to give your gear some attention. A quick check now will protect your investment and keep you sharp through the offseason.
Here’s how to do it right:
Clean every club, grip to groove
Use warm water and a soft brush to clean dirt out of grooves. Wipe grips down with a damp towel and mild soap to remove oils and sweat. Let everything dry before storing.
Dry your golf bag—and clean it out
Empty all pockets (you’ll thank us later), wipe down the bag, and let it air out. Trapped moisture can lead to mold and mildew. Toss any leftover snacks while you’re at it.
Check for damage or wear
Now’s the time to inspect grips, grooves, and shafts. Look for cracking rubber, bent shafts, or any signs of rust. You don’t want surprises in the spring.
Store them upright in a dry, temperate space
Don’t leave clubs in your car or shed where temps swing wildly. Store them indoors—closets and basements are better than garages. Keep them upright in your bag, ideally with a rain hood or towel cover.
Make a note if anything needs fixing
If you noticed issues during step 3, jot it down or call us. We offer [regripping and basic repair services] (Link to club repair page) to get your gear back in shape for spring—or help you decide if a [fitting update] (Link to schedule fitting page) might be in order.
Key takeaway:
Whether you’re putting your clubs away or gearing up for winter league, a little care now goes a long way. Clean gear performs better—and it’s one less thing to worry about when the new season starts.
